What to get for the famous “Hospital Bag” (For you mom)
Well, the hospital bag may be different if you live outside of the US. Yes your hospital is free, but make sure you bring your babies diapers :).
Like to be honest, I do love coming home with a goodie bag from a hospital. Even if it’s not free. It can feel free. Girl Math. Hormones.
Since I only had vaginal deliveries, this post is specifically for Vaginal Births.
1. Frida Mom “Diapers”
Umm yes the hospital provides you with mesh underwear. And I resisted buying these. I only had them because they came with the FridaMom kit I bought.
I ended up loving these ones and regretted that I didn’t have more. They are just super comfortable, and nothing is more important than comfort during those bleeding, leaky days. They are just better made, stretch so nicely, and yea.
2. Loose night shirt/gown with easy access for nursing
I don’t think I need to explain this one. I hate hospital gowns and love being cool and loose. I also had major hot flashes during postpartum period. Everything felt sweaty. Word of warning. This definitely impacted the list. Hot Flashes at age 32.
The one I linked is Little Sleepies. There is a universal little sleepies code LSVIP15. I do not get kickback if you use it.
3. Fan (I wish I Had one)
Maybe it’s just me, but I was hot. Here is a great two in one. You can clip it to your bed AND use it in the future as a stroller fan. I haven’t found the perfect model yet. Feel free to share one that you have found.
4. FridaMom Ice Pads and Peranial Liners (Yes that’s two in one)
Ice packs as pads are my favorite. Yes they say not to use it past 24 hours post birth, but I may have not listened. There was something about the combination of their pads and liners was better than anything else I have used.
5. My Own Pillow
I don’t know why but my suburban hospital pillows where made of plastic. Don’t recommend. I would have just brought my own pillow from home. I don’t think you need to “buy” a pillow.
Final Thoughts
Navigating the postpartum period can be challenging, but having the right products can make a world of difference. I do think some lists are based on everyone’s hormonal and hospital experience. For example, I did not put a six foot charger. My hospital had USB ports on our hospital bed. So they redeemed themselves a little for having plastic pillows.
