6 Tiny Habits That Save my Sanity Every Day
Mental Load is all the rage, mostly directed at husbands. Right now it’s not my brand to deal with marriage specifically, however this is specifically for moms on how to ease their mental load.
Between managing the household, kid’s schedules, work, and emotional needs, it’s easy to feel completely overwhelmed.
I’ve been there. The endless mental load can leave you exhausted and frazzled, but small, consistent habits can make a huge difference.
Below, I’ll share 7 tiny mental load for mom hacks that have helped me reclaim my sanity, stay organized, and feel calmer as a mom. You can start implementing them today, no perfection required.
Habits:
- Write Everything Down.
- If you are anything like me you have a slight need to feel accomplished. I know this seems counterintuitive as it’s another job. However after writing, schedule dentist, and call school, it is easier to check things off, feel accomplished. This also helps when needing to clear your brain. \
- Make a Routine that is just for you
- This seems hard when everything feels like it is on your plate. YOU CAN NOT POUR FROM AN EMPTY CUP. Yes obviously the best choice is for your partner and you to read Fair Play. For many reasons, without shaming, not all spouses are on board or receptive. This is so that you can make it through until they are ready to share the load.
Trending - Decide what isn’t yours
- Not everything has to be your problem. When you are feeling flustered, it should not be all on you. Figure out what is necessity, and then see if there is someone who can pick up the pieces. Sometimes we as women do so much, we have encouraged someone’s (not naming names) incompetence.
- Not every dinner needs to be Gourmet
- You can meal prep. If you really want it to be easy choose something from Prep and Rally and that will take some decision fatigue away. If it’s in your budget use meal kits!
- Simplify
- Choose one grocery store to shop at, Everything else extra indulgences, but not necessity. Have it automated on delivery. (Huge fan of Walmart +). That way you don’t have to constantly worry about what you have in your fridge/pantry
- Someone suggested on threads to have a rotating shelf of toys, and throw out the extra. I peronsally feel this adds to the mental load, but I wanted to share in case other moms relate!
- Choose something from this Self Care post I wrote.
I hope this was helpful and not too overwhelming. This is meant to be helpful not something to stress you out!
